At Mckinney Flooring Contractors we want to be as honest as we can with our clients and potential clients. We hope that we are about to say, can be taken in with that idea in mind and not as a criticism of laminate floors. With that mini disclaimer out of the way let’s get going. Laminate floors are floors that meant to emulate the look and feel of wooden or stone flooring. Obviously, they are not going to match the feel that you would get on natural wooden floors or stone for that matter. That is not necessarily something that is bad. A lot of people prefer the feeling of stepping on laminate floors rather than actual wood!
One of the main benefits that you can get from these types of floors is the fact that the installation process is relatively quick. There are actually folks out there that will take on the installation process themselves. In any case, we do believe that the process can be performed quickly, but being too careless in the process can bring plenty of consequences down the road. Many of which we will explore later on in the next paragraph.
Would We Call It Cheap Flooring?
Certain people come to us and explain that they have had very bad experiences with these types of floors. That has led them to label laminate floors as cheap floors. We would not call them that. It is no secret that they are usually less expensive floors than maybe floors that are made from natural elements. The success of these floors though is usually directly tied to a proper installation. At times people will install them very carelessly. This will lead to the floors developing air bubbles and having other types of problems down the road especially if they get wet or are placed in a very humid area. So, no we wouldn’t call them cheap, they just need to be installed right!
High Maintenance Floors?
There is an idea that many people have developed with regards to these types of floors in which they believe that they are very high maintenance. While it is true that they will require more care than natural wooden floors just based on the fact that they are made from a much more thinner surface that would not necessarily make them high maintenance. Actually, it is quite the opposite at times! Spills and problems of that nature come off very easily from these types of floors.
We obviously sell these types of floors so we think they are worth buying. Here it is really what kind of budget you are running on and what you are looking for. From our experience, we believe that these types of floors can be a great pick because you can get a great look and design for almost half the price at times! You may not get that elegant look, but you really don’t need that in all areas of your home anyway! A very viable option in our book!
